Safe Sleeping Environment

At Cathy’s Village, we know that safe, restful sleep is essential for every child’s growth and well-being. That’s why we follow best practices and state guidelines to ensure nap times are safe, healthy, and nurturing. Our staff is trained in safe sleep practices, and we work closely with families to create consistency and peace of mind.

Our Safe Sleep Practices

  • Back to Sleep: Infants are always placed on their backs to sleep, following expert health recommendations.
  • Safe Cribs Only: We use approved safety cribs that meet federal standards—free from pillows, blankets, toys, or other items that could pose a risk.
  • Smoke-Free Environment: Our childcare spaces are completely smoke-free to protect every child’s health. We also have a brand-new modern air filtration system that was installed in 2025.
  • Comfortable, Not Overheated: Children are dressed appropriately for rest, and we avoid overheating by keeping the room at a safe, comfortable temperature.
  • Regular Check-Ins: Staff members check on children every 15 minutes during nap times for safety and reassurance.
  • Breastfeeding-Friendly: We encourage breastfeeding and support nursing families in every way possible.
  • Pacifiers Allowed: Pacifier use during naps is supported, as it can help reduce the risk of SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome).
  • Up-to-Date Health Records: We ensure all children have current immunization records, supporting their overall health and safe sleep.
  • No Co-Sleeping: Each child has their own designated safe sleep space—no sharing of cribs or sleep surfaces.
  • “Safe to Sleep” Campaign: We proudly support the Safe to Sleep® campaign, which provides families and caregivers with evidence-based guidance for reducing sleep-related risks.
  • Written Safe Sleep Policy: Our formal safe sleep policy is shared with families and consistently followed by all staff members.

With these practices in place, we give children the secure, restful sleep they need—and give families the peace of mind they deserve.
