Health Guidelines for Attendance

At Cathy’s Village, we care deeply about the health and safety of every child in our community. To make sure our classrooms remain safe, comfortable, and nurturing for all, we follow clear guidelines to determine when a child should stay home. These guidelines are based on state health standards and best practices for childcare.

If your child shows any of the following, we ask that they remain at home (or be picked up if symptoms appear during the day):

  • Unable to participate comfortably in classroom activities due to illness.
  • Needing more care than our normal teacher-to-child ratio safely allows.
  • Fever:
    • Oral temperature at or above 100.4°F
    • Rectal temperature at or above 101.4°F
    • Armpit temperature at or above 99.4°F
  • Signs of severe illness, including:
    • Unusual lethargy
    • Uncontrolled coughing
    • Inexplicable irritability or persistent crying
    • Difficulty breathing or wheezing
    • Any other unusual signs for your child
  • Uncontrollable diarrhea.
  • Vomiting: Two or more episodes within a 24-hour period.
  • Persistent abdominal pain lasting more than two hours, or accompanied by fever or other symptoms.
  • Rash with fever or behavior changes.

These guidelines are in place to protect your child, their classmates, and our staff. We appreciate your partnership in keeping our community safe and healthy.
