Our Curriculum: Learning Through Books, Play, and Discovery

At Cathy’s Village, our curriculum is designed to inspire curiosity, build confidence, and help children grow through meaningful, hands-on learning. Each month, our theme changes to keep learning fresh, exciting, and connected to the world around us.

A Monthly Theme That Brings Learning to Life

Our curriculum changes from month to month, giving children the chance to explore new ideas, topics, and skills throughout the year. Every monthly theme is paired with featured books, group activities, creative projects, and lessons that help children connect what they hear, see, and do.

By building learning around monthly books and themes, we create a playful, engaging environment where children can discover new interests and strengthen important early learning skills.

Learning Through Monthly Books

Reading is at the heart of our curriculum. Each month, we read featured books that guide many of our classroom conversations and activities.

Our monthly books help children learn about topics such as:

  • animals
  • positive behavior
  • emotions
  • sharing
  • patience
  • courtesy
  • friendship
  • and so much more

These stories help children build language skills while also learning important social and emotional lessons they can use every day.

Hands-On Activities Inspired by the Stories

Children learn best when they are actively involved. That is why we extend our monthly books into fun, hands-on experiences that make each lesson memorable.

Activities may include:

  • sticker projects
  • play hats and dramatic play activities
  • coloring pages
  • painting projects
  • collage work
  • themed art experiences

These activities encourage creativity, fine motor development, self-expression, and joyful participation.

What Children Explore Each Day

Our daily learning experiences are thoughtfully designed to support the whole child. Throughout the week, children participate in activities that introduce and reinforce key early learning concepts, including:

  • circle time
  • ABCs
  • numbers
  • yoga
  • shapes
  • colors
  • calendar
  • math
  • literacy
  • poems
  • weather
  • sign language

By weaving these subjects into the day in playful and age-appropriate ways, we help children build strong foundations for future learning.

More Than Academics

At Cathy’s Village, curriculum is about more than preparing children for school. It is also about helping them learn how to be kind, confident, curious, and connected.

Our play-based approach supports children as they learn how to:

  • express emotions
  • practice patience
  • share with others
  • build friendships
  • listen and participate in groups
  • develop independence

These early social and emotional skills are just as important as letters and numbers, and they are nurtured every day in our program.

Why Families Love Our Approach

Our curriculum blends structure and flexibility so children can learn in ways that feel natural, meaningful, and fun. With monthly themes, book-based learning, creative projects, and whole-child development, we create a program that helps children thrive.

At Cathy’s Village, every lesson is an opportunity to explore, imagine, create, and grow.
