Hello and welcome! I’m Catherine Alderman, the proud founder and visionary behind Cathy’s Village (DSS Facility License #: 013422372). For over 50 years, my passion for nurturing young minds has driven me to create a play-based in-home daycare and preschool—a place where every child can blossom in a warm, supportive environment.

About Me

My lifelong commitment to early childhood education has been enriched by extensive experience in the field. I hold degrees in Early Childhood Development and Early Childhood Intervention from Chabot College, and I’ve had the privilege of working with the Fremont Unified School District. Before establishing Cathy’s Village at our current location, I successfully ran a program in Fremont, always with the goal of making a positive impact on every child’s life.

Family is at the heart of our program. As both an adoptive parent of four and a mother of three biological children, I understand the importance of a loving, community-based approach. I’m fortunate to have my husband, Tim, as an essential team member—his hands-on skills ensure our environment is safe and welcoming. My daughter, Shaileyna, also supports our efforts whenever she can, reinforcing our family-centric philosophy.

About Our Services

Our Philosophy
At Cathy’s Village, we believe that play is the doorway to discovery. Our play-based approach inspires children to explore, create, and learn in a joyful, dynamic environment. Through engaging, hands-on experiences, we spark curiosity and nurture a lifelong love of learning.

Who We Welcome
We lovingly care for little ones from 1 month to 6 years old, tailoring experiences to meet each child’s unique developmental stage. Every day is an opportunity to grow, laugh, and learn in our nurturing space.

Our Hours
Designed with busy families in mind, our doors are open from 6:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday. This flexible schedule ensures that working parents have the support they need throughout the day.

Check-In and Check-Out
Your child’s safety is our top priority. We require a parent, guardian, or approved caregiver to sign in and out during drop-off and pickup. Children are released only to authorized individuals listed on the emergency sheet, and we request identification if the person is unfamiliar. Parents are welcome to update their authorized contacts in writing at any time.

Flexible Scheduling Options
We offer a range of scheduling plans designed to suit your family’s unique needs. Choose the option that works best for you and enjoy the peace of mind that comes with a program tailored to your lifestyle.

Individualized Care
We pride ourselves on maintaining a low child-to-provider ratio of 1:5. This commitment ensures that every child receives personalized attention in a caring and engaging environment.

Nutritious Meals

Potty Training
Recognizing that every child is unique, we do not require potty training at Cathy’s Village. We honor each child’s individual journey and progress at their own pace.

Subsidized Care
We are proud to accept subsidized care, ensuring that quality early childhood education is accessible to families from all walks of life.

Language and Communication
Our program operates primarily in English, creating a language-rich environment that fosters strong communication skills in every child. We also integrate baby sign language into our interactions, empowering even our youngest learners to express their needs and emotions before they can speak.
